College Bound Student Athletes, a program that combines basketball training with an effort to improve academic achievement, will offer an after-school program in Springfield this fall. CBSA has previously worked with Putnam standouts Taelon Martin (who will attend the Master's School this year) and Naishaun Jernigan, as well as many others.

The program, started by former Northfield Mount Hermon and Wesleyan University player Robert Kelly, will run from Sept. 5 through Nov. 9 and will take place every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Registration begins at 4:15 p.m. on Sept. 5.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, the program will meet at the YMCA of Greater Springfield. Study halls will take place first, running from 5-6 p.m. Students are expected to bring their own homework. Skill development training runs from 6-7:30 p.m.

Cost will be $225 for the entire program for non-YMCA members, $200 for members.
